Homemade Baby Alive food and juice

When I got my little girls a "Baby Alive Doll" I was surprise to see how much the food and juice refills would be and how little they give you for the price. I don't know about other people's little girls but my little girls like to fed their baby dolls a lot during the day and I don't have the money to keep buying the baby food at those prices. So because I love to make things myself and I decide to search the web and to find a homemade recipe and I did. Through Pinterest I found a recipe on http://www.sophiassundries.com/2009/12/christmas-on-budget-part-4.html for homemade Baby Alive food and juice. I took the recipe and changed it up a little bit to make it for my girls.

Materials I used:
  • Empty Mocoa Frappachino Bottles
  • Empty Vitamin Jars
  • Baking Soda
  • Food Coloring
  • Water

First I measured to see how much Baking Soda would fit in the empty vitamin jar.

Then I poured the baking soda into a plastic bag so I could color it.

I added a few drops of food coloring into the bag and sealed the bag. Then mix the color by breaking up the color drop and mix all the baking soda to the color I wanted it.

Then I put it back into the vitamin jar.

I colored one green for "Peas" and one orange for "Peaches"

I then made labels for them on my computer to let the girls know how to mix the food. The recipe is a 3 to 1 ratio of Baking Soda to water, so I gave the girls a teaspoon measuring spoon for them to keep for their Baby Alive food. The label says mix 3 scoops of food (Baking Soda) with 2 scoops of water. The mixture will look watery but it is thick enough because any thicker and you could clog your baby alive so don't make it thick.

For the Baby Alive juice it is really easy. Just pour water into the Empty Mocoa Frappachino bottles.

Color one with yellow and red food coloring to make it orange for "Orange Juice". Color the other with just yellow food coloring for "Apple Juice". That is it.

I also made labels for the juice as well.

The girls LOVED it! Ariana hugs me and thanks me all the time for making this because now she can feed her baby all the time LOL

Also for the diapers I do not buy the baby alive diapers I buy the cheap brand preemie or newborn diapers and they fit just fine and are way cheaper.

  2. Thanks for this post it's extremely helpful. Also for my little girl I went on eBay and bought cloth diapers and liners. I find that newborn size fits her baby alive well but she's got the talking one which is a little larger. I paid 13 dollars for ten diapers and ten liners. These work great because my daughter can easily hand wash them and hang them in her room to dry and I can grab them and throw them in the wash. I save a lot of money because I don't have to continually buy pampers. I hope someone finds this as useful as I found the doll food recipe

    1. Hi I am sorry I don't know of any substitute for the baking soda. I just went by a recipe I found on pinterest and just alter the mixing of water a little. Sorry I couldn't be more of a help.

  8. :( it keeps plugging my daughters baby. I can't get it to dissolve so she ends up feeding her an entire spoonful of soda.... I was so excited I made exactly what you did though :)

    1. I am sorry about that. You might want to add some more water to the recipe since she likes to fed a lot at one time that might help. Also to unclog it just have her feed the baby water. I hope this helps you. I also had to make the recipe more watery for my youngest because she would put a lot at one time. My oldest though would take her time with it but I guess little ones don't lol. I hope this helps

  11. I wonder about the food coloring staining the doll clothes if it gets on them....have you experienced this?

    1. I don't use to much food coloring and once it mixes with the baking soda it doesn't rub off when you mix it with water. I haven't experienced any staining of the clothes.

  13. Thanks for the recipe. I'm going to have to go to the store tomorrow and buy more baking soda. The only baking soda I have on hand right now is in my fridge and freezer. FYI, I found inexpensive handmade Baby Alive diapers (and a matching diaper bag, burp cloths, wipes, etc...) here: https://www.etsy.com/shop/thatssewholly
My daughter loves her baby's diaper bag and diapers.

  19. if you put a pantie liner on the diaper before you use it , it will save you on diapers for a little longer so your not buying diapers twice a month or so depending on the brand . then you just wait for any spillages on the diaper to dry , obviously as its a doll it wont matter as its baking soda there will be no mold producing on the diaper as long as you throw it as soon as it is completely dirty :)
